How to Get Virtual Care

Adult residents (ages 18+) of Western North Carolina can see a UNC Health primary care provider for mild symptoms without an appointment through UNC Health Virtual Care Now free of charge for those impacted by Hurricane Helene. Using your camera- and microphone-enabled phone, tablet or computer, you can access convenient, secure and flexible care when you need it. Patients can get in line for Virtual Care Now through My UNC Chart. If you do not have a My UNC Chart account, you can easily get one when you get in line. Virtual services are available 6 AM – 10 PM, 7 days per week.

Registration Process

Registration is an essential part of your admission and allows our staff to prepare for your visit.

Pay close attention to the exact location and any special instructions your doctor’s office provides when you are receiving your admission schedule.

When you arrive at the admission area, an administrative professional will interview you to get registration information. The questions will be about your address, employer, method of payment, and insurance coverage.

What to Bring

Being prepared to provide the following recommended (but not required) information will assist in making the registration process more efficient.

  • Health Insurance Card
  • Valid photo ID
  • Any physician orders or paperwork provided by your physician’s office
  • Any Advance Planning documents you might have (Living Will, Healthcare Power of Attorney)
  • Sign up for a My UNC Chart account. This online personal medical record portal provides 24/7 access to request prescription refills, view some test results, etc.

Do not bring:

  • Jewelry
  • Large amounts of cash
  • Anything that could be easily lost or misplaced
