What’s an Otolaryngologist?
An otolaryngologist, also known as an ear, nose, and throat (ENT) specialist, is a doctor who diagnoses and treats ENT conditions. This includes helping with hearing, balance, and sleep problems. An ENT doctor also can perform surgery.
Board certification means the ENT doctor has the professional expertise and desire to enhance their skills on a regular basis to give you the best possible care.

Minimally Invasive Sinus Surgery
Count on your experienced ENT doctor to use the least invasive method of surgery whenever possible. You may benefit from endoscopic sinus surgery at UNC Surgical Specialists by having a smaller incision and less scarring, recovering sooner and experiencing a lower risk of complications.
Image-Guided Sinus Surgery
If your doctor recommends surgery for sinusitis, you may have surgery using advanced technology at UNC Surgical Specialists. Image-guided surgery allows for improved views of your sinus passageways and precise placement of surgical instruments to remove or correct sinus blockages. That means less discomfort and a shorter recovery.
Balloon Sinuplasty
Choose UNC Surgical Specialists for a balloon sinuplasty procedure to treat chronic sinusitis. Your ENT doctor performs this procedure without cutting or removing any tissue or bone. It is usually an outpatient procedure.
Balloon sinuplasty inflates a small, flexible balloon catheter into your blocked sinus passage to open and widen it. After the procedure, your sinus will be able to drain normally.
Coordinated Hearing Loss & Balance Care
Rely on your UNC Surgical Specialists ENT doctor to work closely with your audiologist to provide complete hearing, tinnitus, and balance and dizziness care and treatment.
