How to Get Virtual Care

Adult residents (ages 18+) of Western North Carolina can see a UNC Health primary care provider for mild symptoms without an appointment through UNC Health Virtual Care Now free of charge for those impacted by Hurricane Helene. Using your camera- and microphone-enabled phone, tablet or computer, you can access convenient, secure and flexible care when you need it. Patients can get in line for Virtual Care Now through My UNC Chart. If you do not have a My UNC Chart account, you can easily get one when you get in line. Virtual services are available 6 AM – 10 PM, 7 days per week.

Jonas Hill Outpatient Clinic

The Jonas Hill outpatient clinic provides greater access to education and community resources, medication management and therapy to help patients and their families when hospitalization is not recommended. Our clinic sees patients ages six and older.

Therapeutic Approach

Our clinicians are trained to provide treatment for many mental health diagnoses including depression, anxiety, and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), among other diagnoses. We will assess your individual needs and develop a treatment plan that will address your specific therapeutic goals. Clinicians utilize a variety of evidence-based practices including but not limited to:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy Skills
  • Attachment Theory, Somatic Approach
  • Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR),
  • Systems Theory

You do not have to come to our clinic with an understanding of the intricacies of therapy or what modality would be the best fit – trust that our staff will implement the best therapeutic methods given your diagnoses and needs.

How to Get Help at the Clinic

You can access all the services we offer by calling our main office at 828-394-6720 and scheduling an appointment for a consultation. You will need to bring your insurance cards, medication list, drivers license and completed new patient packet to your first visit.

At Jonas Hill Clinic, our goal is to provide you with the best mental health care possible. To better serve you, we politely ask that you find alternative care for your children during any Jonas Hill appointments. If you are unable to find child care, please speak with your provider and/or therapist directly who will address this barrier to locate the best therapeutic solution. Any exceptions to this policy will be up to the provider and/or therapist’s discretion based on your individual therapeutic goals. We do not allow emotional support animals or pets in our clinic. If you have a service animal, they are welcome to join you for your appointment.

Access for Jonas Hill Hospital Patients

With the assistance of your inpatient treatment team, referral to the outpatient behavioral health services will be available after discharge.

Payment Options

For outpatient Jonas Hill Clinic services and programs:

  • We will participate with most, if not all, insurance companies. 
  • We will verify your insurance benefits prior to your first appointment.
  • We will bill your insurance company for your services. 
  • Required co-pays will be collected at the time of service.
