Wake Forest University where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Biology. He continued his studies at the prestigious Wake Forest Bowman Gray School of Medicine.
After obtaining his medical degree, he went on to complete his orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where he received extensive training that included experience at five different Level I trauma centers. After residency, he served as staff Orthopaedic Surgeon and Department Head of Orthopaedics at the US Naval Hospital in Naples, Italy. He then completed a combined Orthopaedic and Neurosurgical Spine Fellowship at the world-renowned Leatherman Spine Fellowship in Louisville, Kentucky.
Since then he served as Spine Team Leader and staff Orthopaedic Surgeon at Naval Hospital Portsmouth. He recently served a tour of duty in Kandahar, Afghanistan, where he was the Department Head of Orthopaedic Surgery at the NATO Role 3 Hospital.
