Caldwell Memorial Hospital Honors Physician Leaders
At its Annual Medical Staff Awards Dinner on November 13, Caldwell Memorial Hospital celebrated the service of two physician leaders. Dr. John Dew, a board certified pulmonary disease and internal medicine physician specializing in hospitalist care with Caldwell Acute Care Specialists (left) received The George M. Hancock, MD Award for Excellence in Patient Care; and Dr. John Powell, a board certified family medicine physician with Southfork Medical Park received The Donald D. McNeill Award for Outstanding Physician Leadership.
Dr. John Dew graduated from East Carolina University School of Medicine and completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at Wright Patterson USAF Medical Center. He completed his fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center. Dr. Dew serves on the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, serves as Medical Advisor to Cardiopulmonary Services, and has been elected Department Chief of Medicine for the upcoming year.
Dr. John Powell graduated from Medical College of Georgia and completed his internship and residency with Cox Medical Centers Program. Dr. Powell serves as Chairman of the Endovascular and Bylaws Committees and has been the appointed Medical Director of Caldwell Physician Network since January 2012. Dr. Powell has served on the Medical Executive Committee for the past six years, has been Department Chief of Family Practice/Pediatrics, Vice Chief of Staff, Chief of Staff, a member of the Ethics Committee and a member of the Council on Quality and Safety.
The Annual Medical Staff Awards Dinner is hosted by the Boards of Directors of Caldwell Memorial Hospital and Caldwell Memorial Hospital Foundation. Caldwell Acute Care Specialists and Southfork Medical Park are divisions of Caldwell Memorial Hospital.
