At its annual Medical Staff Awards Dinner on November 10, Caldwell honored three members of its Active Medical & Allied Health Staffs for their service to the health of our community. Following the welcome and introductory remarks by Caldwell President and CEO Laura Easton, the 2016 distinctions were awarded to (L-R) Dr. John W. McMenemy, Dr. George L. Nichols, and Certified Physician Assistant Ben Bullard.
John W. McMenemy, MD, family medicine physician with Anderson Medical Park, received the George M. Hancock, MD Excellence in Patient Care Award from John Powell, MD, a past recipient and current medical director of Caldwell Physicians. Dr. McMenemy received his medical degree from Wright State University School of Medicine in Dayton, Ohio and is board certified by American Board of Family Medicine. He moved to Lenoir and joined the Active Medical Staff of Caldwell in 1996.
George L. Nichols, MD, chief of pathology and laboratory medicine for Caldwell and private practice pathologist with CMH Pathology, received the Donald D. McNeill, Jr. Award for Outstanding Physician Leadership from Jeffrey Keverline, past recipient and orthopedic surgeon with Carolina Orthopaedic Specialists. Dr. Nichols received his medical degree from The Bowman Gray School of Medicine and is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology by American Board of Pathology. He joined the Active Medical Staff of Caldwell in 1997 and has served on numerous hospital committees in addition to his roles as chief of pathology and laboratory medicine, and cancer program liaison.
Ben Bullard, PA-C, hospitalist with Caldwell Acute Care Specialists, received the George M. Hancock, MD Excellence in Patient Care Award from David Lowry, MD, past recipient and previous chief of staff for Caldwell. Mr. Bullard completed his certified physician assistant program from The Bowman Gray School of Medicine and is certified by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, Inc. He joined the Allied Health Staff of Caldwell in 2001.
The Annual Medical Staff Awards Dinner, held at Cedar Rock Country Club, is hosted by the boards of directors of Caldwell and Caldwell Memorial Hospital Foundation.
Anderson Medical Park is a division of Caldwell Memorial Hospital. CMH Pathology and Carolina Orthopaedic Specialists are not divisions of Caldwell Memorial Hospital.
