Caldwell, the community hospital and one of the top employers in Caldwell County, received the 2014 Gold Award from the North Carolina Department of Labor for success in reducing time lost from work.

Gold Award winners achieve a days away from work, job transfer or restriction (DART) rate that is at least fifty percent lower than their industry rate.

“As part of our commitment to building a culture of safety and wellness, Caldwell continues to work toward keeping our employees safe,” said Rebecca Smith, Chief Operating Officer.  “Helping our staff to live healthier lifestyles provides a number of benefits to the hospital, and a commitment to workplace safety is a selling point for hiring and retaining the most qualified employees.”

Caldwell became part of the nationally-recognized UNC Health Care System in May of 2013.
